I couldn't mount mine like that, although it wouldn't hurt having it blow through the psu. This pic is an old one, back when I still had the 460GTX, but you get the idea. The fan dumped the cpu heat straight out via the case fan. I have to say that set up as a whole cooled very well. The air flow was channeled perfectly in that case. It was sort of accidental with the components I had. The 460 even vented to the interior of the case. Wasn't the quietest pc, but it wasn't horrible either.

Looks good Therm!
And that looks like a modular Ocz PSU?
Next time round, I'm going modular due to the vast amount of unused cables (and the quality ones do provide plenty) that have to be tucked away.
I was a little concerned at first regarding the RAM, but with some reorganising the cooler fitted like a dream.
I personally think that the case makes the rig. For me it has to be heavy with thick panels.
This new case weighs 10Kg...empty. Fully loaded, it felt like nearly 20Kg lugging it back home from the shop.
Many people leave the side off the case in hot weather, but I'm not sure if that is the answer. I would have though that decent airflow from front to back was the answer.
This new one has front and rear fans, speed adjustable and two huge ones at the side, which I think may be more for adornment. Not sure.
A couple more pics:

Pretty good coolers for the price and there quiet. I found it a bit of a bugger fitting it in place on an AMD board that was fitted in the case due to fiddly wee screws used to hold the clips on.

Hey Roscop
I've fitted it to an AMD board too and yes it was a bit fiddly.
I was over cautious I think, when tightening the 2 very small screws for the brackets as I was afraid of plastic lugs on the mobo bracket snapping. IE, I didn't tighten them 100%
I'm sure I haven't tightened them enough actually as I'm getting some weird fluctuations in temps.
How far did you tighten yours?
Cheers

Tighten them right up, the plastic clips are solid on the cooler mount there is no way you will break them (he says tempting fate). I would say thats your problem if the temps are fluctuating

I do remember that I was getting some high temps with it at first though as there is a lot of movement whilst fitting due to trying to get those stupid screws in place, it took a couple of goes at re-seating it before I was happy with the temps I was getting

Thanks mate, I'll give that a go, although I have seen these amd lugs brake before, not in my hands yet  smile
Sure to be not tight enough, but that's not a problem if I need to refit as I've got Arctic Silver thermal paste to spare.
I would have thought lower idle temps, but then it is 35c outside and inside the house. Case temp 33c inside it.

You might be able to get it down a couple of degrees I would think but as you said yourself its pretty warm over there and as you know cooling on air will only go as low as the ambient temp, maybe a bit lower if you force a bit more air in using a big desktop fan. If your temps really shoot up running the stability test then you will know something is wrong.

Its not really fair to compare as thats not the cooler I am using but my temps  idle = 30c and load = 47c.
I am running a phenom 965 x4 so similar (or same?) to yours and I am only as low as 30c idle and its no where near 30c ambient here.

Whoever snapped them must have really done something wrong cause even I haven't managed to snap them and I'm the most ham fisted person I know and the cooler I have on is 1 solid bracket that needs to be hooked on both lugs that really needs serious force to do.

That's going Commando and I wouldn't go any other way. Cleaner, healthier and more hygienic.
Anyway, I tightened up the brackets and seemed to do the trick, dropping at least 3c.
I hope it's not becoming an obsession of mine, but in this infernal heat (39c today).... scratchhead

Which one can I believe?Huh? scratchhead
