FPS single players have been evolving... multiplayers are just about the same, there hasn't been really much refinement since CoD 4.

I'd actually likely pay to have age restricted servers where you have to be over 21 to play on it.

Played it and I'm thinking that I deffo prefer Red Orchestra 2. The alpha definitely felt better than the beta for some reason or maybe its because I've played RO 2 in the interim, dunno tbh. Will give it a go again later

FFS that delayed hit reg is still present. It makes the game feel out of synch. It's a game breaker for me so I'm emailing play.com on Monday to cancel my pre order.

RO2 all the way baby!

Don't think I'll be buying it, seems too dumbed down to be a true Battlefield game. A BF game verging on arcade style is ridiculous.

i don't think the hit reg could get any worse than it was in bad company ,  i sprayed down three guys in-front of me before they got a shot back and i didn't need to reload once  and probably still had half a mag left , that was a sign of improvement for me ,in the same situation in bad company i would have probably took one out and got shot reloading . theres nothing worse shots not registering tho goodbye cruel world

Im still undecided, it feels like a step up from bc2 simulation wise ( i tried both back to back to compare) bc2 defo feels more of a arcade game,,, but battlefield is all about vehicles and there isnt one in the beta wtf. unless all the vehicles work perfectly and dice are having trouble with infantry only... also the bugs.. can it be fixed in 1 month??? i doubt it but  fingers crossed,, oh the pp9000 is an awesome weapon in bf3.
the beta of bc2 blew me away.. this im afraid hasnt

Managed to play on some Euro servers for a change and it's pretty much the same, magic bullets that go round corners instead of smacking straight into three feet of brickwork.
Also hating the luminous edges everything has, which I think is an effort to make up for the antiquated AA on consoles (in the same vein as Bloom).

In all honesty I'm about as underwhelmed as I expected to be. happy

I did wonder about the instant death thing. I originally thought it was just headshots.. but I thought only sniper rifles really did that in BF games (and I remember lots of BF sniper rifles that took more than one headshot to kill). It also happened to me alot with assault rifles... I just wondered if I was bad, but I did seem to be dropping dead remarkably fast sometimes!!

The instant death thing is annoying indeed but doesnt happen that often luckily.

Tbh, the hit reg to me is remarkably better then BC2's ... Not forgetting to mention movement improvement.  Feels that much smoother then BC2's.

I'm not canceling my pre-order atm.

The new map is much better than Metro, which is shite.

Tanks are quite like DC tanks. Helo flew alright, in fact it feels almost like a DC helo (I've seen a few people try to fly and crash so far), but atm... a lot of trees, hard to see what is actually shooting at you. Planes again, seem quite responsive, if I could up the sensitivity a bit. And in a rare step up for a Dice made BF game, the vehicles aren't shite.

Big gripe... infantry mouse sensitivity is shared with vehicles... but imo vehicles are way too slow. would be nice to change my targeting reticule colour. There is often a lot on the interface, and at least early on it's hard to see what's going on. I sort of wish you could turn off a lot of the visual prompts and vehicle system... I really don't need things to show me where the ground level is.

It's got some promise, but that mouse setting thing is a big one. It takes an age to turn a tank turret at the moment. And flying a plane was an exercise in using alot of deskspace rapidly!!

It's not quite DC yet... but I think it's the closest we've come in a fair while. That's almost praise, coming from me... we all know what my standards are like with these types of games lol.

It'd also be nice to turn off the stupid bloom. The sun apparently blinds you totally as soon as you look anywhere near it in the Battlefield Universe. I know it's bright and all... but it takes away the fun. This isn't the red baron and he won't be attacking from the sun. There are these things called sunglasses too. At the moment it's a bit over the top imo, it's just an effect for no real gain. Can't find a way to turn off post processing either, which is what it must be.

-edit-
I found 3 sensitivity settings in a config file. Sounds like there might be some options after all!!

Plenty of people seem to be moaning about a global sensitivity thing too. I think one guy is right, there really hasn't been a working one for BF since 1942!!

Looks far better.

Has that dramatic wee boys playing soldier effect that these games so muchly require.

But that horrible netcode is still present.

Much like what Wooster posted and actually....the reverse...as if in the guy that killed me's screen I was in the open but in my screen I was behind cover ? If you get me ?

Simply not good enough.

Not bad though considering it was a 64 man server...but how much as that to do with the netcodes hitreg ? IS IT CLIENT SIDE ?
