I'm not sure if this should be here but here goes.

Lin brought a book home for me a few weeks ago.
The book is The great global treasure hunt on Google earth http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/great-global-treasure-hunt/.
The answer is somewhere on Google earth the winner will be drawn from those with the correct co-ordinates which are accurate to 20mtr.
I know the odds are against me winning but I'd like a chance.

My problem is that if I enter Stonehenge the co-ordinates at the bottom are 51.104389 1.493449 when I enter this I end up in the sea off Dover. So obviously I can't get within 20mtr.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong.  mad

Yup, no offence, but you have forgotten about the Meridian Line in Greenwich i.e. any coordinates west of that line is a minus, anything east is a plus...you're only human

Thank you Therm what daft bugger could possibly think that I'm human.  blink

I did forget where the meridian was but I still don't know why Stonehenge (51.178844, -1.826189) shows as 51.104389 1.493449 at the bottom of the page.
@Wooster how do you find the correct co-ordinates?

Stonehenge isn't the answer but is probably the answer to the first clue.

Google map can give you all sorts of info, plus if you go deep enough into any sat nav, I'm sure they will give you that info as well....yes, I did forget to change my name to Wooster laugh

Top right of its Wiki Page has the co-ordinates as a link to:  Wink
http://toolserver.org/~geohack/geohack.php?pagename=Stonehenge&params=51_10_43.84_N_1_49_34.28_W_region:GB-WIL_type:landmark_scale:2000
