Winter is coming!

« on: October 31, 2011, 10:15:42 PM »

As said before lappies are a dark and new art to me.

It's for my kid but I want the best for the money I can get.

Ain't bothered my arse about looks, performance to cost ratio is always king...after all, I ain't an Apple fanboi, I is a true core PC fanboi and pick performance always over looks  Wink

On a budget of £400 max and I mean max btw as i not a penny over as the budget was originaly £330 but I've managed to squeeze that bit more out of Smattie.

I'll probably also use it to play HD content hooked direct via HDMI to my HD telly.

This looks well specced for the dosh and suits the needs but I've never heard of them ....

They do one called the Zoostorm Fizzbook that's designed for kids, UK company apparently.

Looks pretty reasonable spec for the money. smile

I think I'll just go with it in fact.

Okay an i3 DC ain't all that powerful but it's still more powerful than my last full DT rig so in that respect it's fine.
Good sized HDD and RAM for the money, infact it's well generous which is why I am having doubts again....after saying I think I'll go for it.

Fizzbook sounds intriguing, will check that out.

I love it.

Looks tough as old boots and really does look like it has been designed with a lot of thought for kids....thought being that it's not just some generic pish PC with colorful characters stuck on it to make it appealing to kids.

But for the price it's a bit weak on the power side. If I were a richer man I'd buy it without hesitation. But I get so much more for te money on a straight lappy. With lashings of fear instilled in regard to looking after it and not dropping it etc. Golden rule will be this laptop is not a laptop this laptop is small PC that will only be used on a desk top  laugh

I think there's a lot of effort going into not referring to them as laptops any more anyway. tongue2

I've came across lots of faults with this gpu and the 8600M on laptops, It's well known to fail. Overheating i believe. Sad

I read that too, it's prone to a high rate of failure.

Too late I just bought the Zoostorm.

I'd have bought that as well on the knowledge you'd seen it.

Ah well.

Just bought a zoostorm pc for work, its was too cheap to pass up. Core i5 2310 2.9GHz quad core 8GB Geil ram, 1 TB Hitachi deathstar hard drive for £324
Its ok but the motherboard lets the overall spec down, its made by ECS, so great components then a shitty mobo to drive them. :S

I had a few problems with the network card and Norton Ghost, I had to manually load the drivers to image the PC. Thats poor quality Atheros tat too.
