Thing is when I turn up the school will be closed.
The janitor will be on strike, the teachers, the head teacher and the other teaching assistant.
So I need to go to the council offices to declare myself available for work but there is a good chance that will be under a skeleton crew too as the vast majority of them will be either UNISON or GMB members and on strike.
So I may be forced to have a days pay docked.

I'm not entitled to take holidays, that's called enhanced leave under SLC and is unpaid, you have to be full time to qualify for it. It's a case of they deduct your wage wage on an annual basis as opposed to monthly so you don't notice the gap in your monthly wage so severely. Anyhoo, I'm term time so it doesn't matter, my hols are all predetermined.
On another note I was talking with the EIS rep today and she mentioned turning up to the council buildings to announce availability won't be easy either as there is a planned picket line.
