Just curious, because I seem to remember in the far and distant past that when I lived in the UK, if the hols fell over the weekend they were carried over to Mon and Tues.
No such luck here, even for New year.
I'm fecking knackered and working since Monday!

Still works that way in most places.

Which is a bit shite if like my wife you often have to work Christmas day on a sat or sun and then someone who got it off and working the mon or tues gets the xxtra publicc holiday money.

Feckin stupid.

Aye, they're statutory holidays, so you have to get them somehow.

Some are allocated them as a block to add to their accrued holidays, but my situation is a bit more normal.
I was on-call on both Monday and Tuesday (Xmas Day & Boxing Day holidays), so I'll get both days back in lieu (and double rate for any work undertaken).

They're counted as standard annual leave days in my wife's case. which is still unfair as the people that don;t work Christmas or New Years day still get the same block of standardised annual leave entitlement.
So yer still shafted if you work Chrimbo day and are off the Mon or Tues.

TBH it's a real indicator of how shit Unison are these days as a public servant union that even accepted it...as they did under agenda for change (don;t get me started on that piece of crap).

Finally persuaded Adriana to take Monday off.
As if her life depended on her working that day, not!

The unfortunate thing when you've retired from work is that you don't get any public holidays....
