What a bunch of gits.  Requested a refund for a frankly awful pos game I bought which I gave up on trying to get to work correctly after an hour.  Some strategy pretender.  Anyways sent a detailed letter asking for a refund and to which I get a polite fuck off and go speak to the third party developer/publisher of said pos game.

If I could leave steam tomorrow I would.  Trouble is too many of my games I love are steamworks titles.

The world has really gone to shit these days with regards customer service.  Its just a big coporate machine that churns people up and spits them out - minus there money!!

Bearded Clams.

Thank you for listening  tongue2

 Wink

P.S yes I know steam is wonerful blah blah blah - but there customer service bloody well is not!

Same thing happened to me with Steam.

Bought some shit game that wouldn't run in full screen and no messing with the configs.ini would do it either.
Game played like crap too.
Asked for a refund and was told to F off and contact the 3rd party for support.

I replied stating that Steam is under the law of the UK as a licesend vendor within the UK regardless of being a digital distributor. I told them they had to refund me as I had requested within 7 working days and that they were subject to distance selling regulations, same as anyone else. I mentioned that agreeing to T&C's was merely a local policy of their own and was not party to the law of the UK.

I received an idignant reply stating they had refunded me but it was a one off as they weren't in the habbit of refunding.

Yeah, right....more like I called them out.

Do the same Daz and threaten to send every piece of correspondance to Consumer Direct and OFT if they fail to comply.

Thanks mate - will do.  I had already replied prior to reading your post.  And of course it will no doubt take them several days to reply to that.  But your statement sounds great, will return fire with it on the next volley.

I just ranted at them, politely, but stating in no short way that they had totally avoided my question and sent me a useless response un related to my question and that the customer service sucked.

I'll let you know how the ping pong plays out!

Finally looks like I'm getting somewhere - as a one off they are going to provide me with the credit for the game to use on another title.  Gits, but at least I'm getting my money back in some shape or form. Pretend this smiley isn't quite as pronounced, but a smile nonetheless smile   Wink
