Think I'll be getting mine from the local pet shop

Was pmsl at something I rarely watch yesterday, Everybody Loves Raymond.

He got his old man a fish tank for his birthday, and when he found out how much it cost he went nuts. "You paid $600 for a box of water???"

Got two big black rocks we robbed off the beach last week sitting in the hall.....forgot the bloody sand

I think you'd have to sterilise it, probably the rocks also.

Milton sterilising fluid?

Ya cant go around sterilising a salt-water tank. Everything in the water has to be perfect. The temprature, the micro-organisms everything. An example: You can buy dried micro-organisms whos job it is to break down fish shit. If the water in your tank does not have these the water will very soon become toxic. You can buy test kits to measure the said organisms and if its low you sprinkle some in the water and they come to life and go about their business.
Fresh water tanks need a bit of work but nothing compaired to a salty. You have to create a complete eco system in the tank. A huge challenge and an awesome hobby and of course the results are stunning and something you can watch for hours.

..I was only mentioning that he might be able to use that to sterilise the rocks before introducing them into a tank, not drop a fizzy tablet right in there and let the fish evolve or die.
