I know this is a very sensitive subject, particularly on this forum which is mainly populated by Scots, affected in no small way by the policies of Thatcher. Please do not misunderstand me people, I'm simply throwing a pebble in the pool. There is talk of, when she eventually shuffles off, a state funeral similar to that of Winston Churchill. I don't believe this will happen. The high and mighty may well wish it, but like the late Diana, Princess of Wales, the people will and I mean WILL have the last word. I will now, publicly admit to my naiveté in this respect, having been at the blunt end of her policies and the good, I have to say. But to put her up there with Churchill would be an insult to all who suffered under her regime, in so many ways. Churchill brought the people together in a time of need. Need I say more?

I reckon it's buying into this perpetuated myth that she was great to even consider it as a possibility.
She can fucking rot for all I care.

Ditto.
As a columnist for The Guardian put it "The Tory prime minister wasn't a great leader. She was the most socially destructive British politician of our times." Maggie Milk Snatcher, lifelong friend of Augusto Pinochet (who killed at least over 3000 of his own people and tortured tens of thousands more) and decrier of Nelson Mandela as a terrorist will not be sadly missed. Personally I'd be happy to see her unceremoniously stuffed into a bin bag with some bricks and tossed into the Thames.
And the movie is a revisionist insult to us all imho.

If the Queen's Mum never got one, albeit out of her request before she died, why should Thatcher get one? Because she allowed the Argies to invade the Falklands, only to win it back doesn't mean she should have one.

In keeping with the great lady's legacy, Margaret Thatcher's state funeral should be funded and managed by the private sector to offer the best value and choice for end users and other stakeholders. I've got a stake & a lump hammer just in case.

She's not remembered fondly by anyone who wasn't a y.u.p.p.i.e. ; in the financial services ; upper middle class ; rich enough to buy shares in the privatisation of nationalised industries at bargain basement prices (the open to the public for shares in BT con included) and any other c unt that didn't fit into her world of perceived 'betters'. Fucking cow. I'm sitting here and I'm actually enraged just thinking about her stuck up better than the rest of you fucking attitude. Never have I hated a woman so much and as a result a political party as consequence. Not just consequence actually, Cameron and co are quite obviously of the same ilk.

Some have said that we should line the streets and turn our backs on the cortège, but I say face it and urinate on the road. If enough of us did it her final passage would be on a river of piss, which would be a fitting counterpoint to the inevitable flood of mawkish Tory tears, beating of breasts at her passing (on a river of piss ) and revisionist tributes about 'how much she did for Britain'....you know, stuff like record levels of unemployment, the fact that people in England & Wales have to pay for their water now, the wholesale and rapid destruction of traditional industries and the communities that relied on them, and in a twist of irony, the vitriolic rhetoric levelled at anyone trying to make a couple of quid on the side while tens of billions of £'s in tax avoidance are happily nodded through by those earning the most. You know, Keasy is right. Scotland should ditch the whole fucked up system in 2014, it might force a rethink across every nation and be the best thing to happen to Britain for over 300 years if we did.

Go for it brother, we don't need an umbilical cord attached to anyone, at all. Go for broke that's what I say. Scotland can sink or fucking swim and as long as we tried to swim I will be truly satisfied in knowing we did it ourselves. Devo max ? Pfffft that really does play to the 'clinging onto the British army' attitudes. We don't fucking need them. We won't even waste our money pretending to give a fuck as a single nation under the leadership and 'real' agendas of the US as we will not join N.A.T.O. Hopefully in 20 years time our kids will be taught Auld Scots as their primary language and English as a secondary. We will live in tartan painted houses and we will all publicly proclaim a love for haggis whilst boaking at the very thought of an English steak pie

You bunch of whinging gits You can't...to leave is a choice...to be told to fuck off is not ;o) Anyway, maybe we should let you have a say. That way we can be even more sure of our independent choice when it's driven home just how much we're disliked down there ;o) Plus we should still get to have a say in your shitey pretending to still be a world power politics when you lot eventually grow a pair and devolve the parliament. Oh! Wait! You won't won't you, that's right, I almost forgot, you somehow cling to the idea of Westminster being some sort of centre of colonialist power.

It's a bit of a strange situation, but (imho) the opinions of the other nations that make up the UK should be taken into consideration, since the referendum directly affects them also.
I'm not saying that those opinions should extend to a separate referendum involving all nations that would have influence over the wishes of the Scots, but they should be listened to (and probably taken with a large pinch of salt if they're seen to be coming from 'the old establishment').
