I think the English should get to vote on independance too.  Maybe we dont want you in the UK anymore!  You bunch of whinging gits  tongue2

 Wink

You can't...to leave is a choice...to be told to fuck off is not ;o)

Of course, the smart way of doing that would be 'would England like to be a part of Britain' and we can get rid of the Welsh at the same time Wink </trollMode>

But there in lies the problem the same as the glaring flaw in this post.

England thinks IT IS Britain, not just a part it  Wink

There speaks a man whose countrymen installed their king on our throne in the 16th century.

It's it's us who should have the vote on English independence.

Though arguably because England neither has it's own National Anthem or Parliament, English people are the only totally British people, since Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have devolved Governments and could be classed as Dual National almost. Whilst we have a flag, that's about all we have that is independent of Great Britain.

I'm not trying to be offensive there, just the ways I sees it, since we have no other governance there is no distinction between being English and British, it's just the British part also has some rights in Scotland and Wales. If it did not, it would turn out the British Government would be the same thing as the English Government.

That's a good point, although I'd point out that Scotland doesn't actually have a national anthem at all.  biggrin
We just use whatever we feel like at the time (I wish they'd drop Flower of Scotland at the rugby though...the sentimental claptrap makes me cringe). Wink

-edit- Hey, it'd have been weird if the players lined up and sang the same song twice though.  laugh

Well I consider God save The Queen/King to be an English anthem as it's certainly not a British one with shite like...'Rebellious Scots to crush'.

Although taken in the context of the time, Rebellious Scots had been trying to crush Rebellious Scots for quite a while.

Who the Rebellious ones were just depended on what side you were on. biggrin

I'm sure it refers to the crushing of the Jacobite uprising and signifies said crushing of being celebrated by an English king, no mention of any Unionist Scots in it...

    Lord, grant that Marshal Wade,
    May by thy mighty aid,
    Victory bring.
    May he sedition hush,
    and like a torrent rush,
    Rebellious Scots to crush,
    God save the King.

Fuck him and fuck his crushing! the prick....

Aye, it's not a bad one as anthems go.

Look at Peru's, which includes the lines
He raised his humiliated, his humiliated, his humiliated head.
He raised, he raised his humiliated head.

Shit, talk about beating yourself up.  biggrin

I actually loathe the English national anthem and turn down the volume when it comes on.
The English have a wide choice of possible anthems, some by Elgar, but of course nowadays they would be considered too non PC.
