'An how faust kin it ging?'

« on: November 18, 2007, 11:51:34 PM »

I wasn't too sure about it at all really, infuriating wee things like losing track of where I was in the file structure, where TF my game profiles and settings were etc.. but I have to say, it's really growing on me.  Cool
The 64 bit edition is a bit pants at the moment imho, drivers are difficult to come by for some of the gear I have for instance and I did manage to crash it (that's new as well..it's a black screen.. laugh) but the 32bit edition works an absolute treat...with the possible exception of Bioshock..

Anyhoo, the Aero theme and Flip3D are mega impressive...tbh I didn't rate it much and thought it was just a bit gimmicky when I saw demos online and on TV, but when I eventually remembered to turn it on I was bloody impressed.  Cool

I can't support an os that is built on closing an open platform, and drm.

I do have it installed, i don't use it.

It's pretty, and the 3D flip is nice. But theres large amounts of gash, like the new start menu... the new file explorer, and the fact you have to delve into menus to find the shutdown option (i know, lets make it user friendly and make it a chore to turn off. fucking a)

My boss was getting confused on how to shut down his laptop so I made him a shortcut to the shut off....that has saved me an average of 4 calls a day LOL

old faithful shutdown -s -t 1, eh?

which i take great exception to the 10 minute limit on now, since XP64. I used to time it for 2 hours etc Sad

now i have to use at [time] shutdown -s -t 1, which is annoying Sad

I don't see the problem with the shutdown, it takes exactly the same amount of clicks (3) as XP does.. confused

XP:Click Start>Click Shut Down>Click Shutdown Option
Vista:Click Start>Click Sub-Menu Next To Lock>Click Shutdown Option

And there's any number of wee timed shutdown apps out there.
I think this is the one I'm using http://www.filewatcher.com/m/timedshutdown.exe.2038949.0.0.html

I have had Vista 32bit running for around 4 months now...as I have said countless times before to Vista haters 'I have not had a single problem!'

It looks great and runs very well - why would I want to go back to XP? If it started playing up then yep I would convert back but it has been faultless!

Love the Mediacentre to  notworthy

All in all a very worthwhile dow buy.

I hardly buy any media at the moment so DRM is either going to force me to shell out to buy stuff that I'd normally acquire or put me right off buying it altogether ...it's a hell of a gamble they are taking eh?  laugh

Running 32 with no issues yet, but it's early in the game.  The proper 64 should be on it's way to me and then I'll see what this bitch can do.
Right after I buy a UPS that doesn't get asthma every time my video card kicks in.

Hey, eatit; have you thought of modifying that first lass to insert the exploding Deathstar right at the end?  Just wondering.

I've got the business edition ready to install on a separate hard drive, we'll see how it goes.

What's this drm then and what does it mean to a pirate such as myself YAARRRR!?
