this is why i love the guitar, with lots of practice anythings possible, oh the guy Guthrie Govan notworthy so many you tube vids of him, he is a true master, it aint just practice with this guy he is one of the most gifted musicians on the planet, a friend of mine was at the guitar institute of technology in London and had this guy as his tutor

Often though, the problem with those super gifted individuals is, that they tend to be so stupidly technical that it's impossible for your average joe to learn anything from it and their playing just leaves you scratching your head and quickly lose interest. I rather like the guys who actually play with a lot of feeling and leave you feeling what they've been interpreting on their instruments. Excellent players in that vein are Gary Moore, Mark Knopfler and John Lee Hooker Cool

Just thought i'd pop my head in here, don't know shite about playing music, except how to put a cd into the player.  biggrin

Here's a a guy i like, seen him perform at a couple of hi-fi shows many years ago, he used to sell his albums under the Naim Audio Labels, which are of amazing sound quality.

To be honest Hap, don't think I could listen to more than one track of that kind of music...It's love it or hate it stuff.  flee

Seven Black Roses is quite an astonishing number, especially when you consider the technical difficulty in playing the song and singing it at the same time. A lot of coordination that's required there for sure.

I've been moving slowly into singing along my playing in the past 5 years and I still make the odd horrendous mistake, but I reckon that's all part and parcel of the game anyway  laugh

I've seen a lot of crazy technical ability in my day, but we must not forget that technical ability is one thing, keeping the masses interested is quite another. It's easy to be so good that you send every attendant to your gig into nod country, if the quality of the songs is much poorer than the musical wank you're capable of producing through your technique.

Admittedly Yngwie is a supremely talented guitarist and very technical, but he lacks way too much in feeling when it comes to injecting that element into his playing.
